Teak Breakdown Funiture

July 11, 2009

I just spend the last couple of hours breaking down a twin air bed so that I could move it from one of kid’s bedrooms into another bedroom. I have to say that I am very impressed with the engineering that is going into the “assemble it yourself” furniture that is available these days. First off, the quality of instructions was top notch using lots of images to guide you through. These diagrams really help with the orientation of each piece, and the matching of bolts and nuts and an order that makes things as easy as possible. This might have something to do with the fact that teak furniture is high end, so the company probably thought it was worth spending the extra time and money to make a quality experience that went way beyond the furniture itself. What I thought would be an all day chore turned out to take just a couple of hours.

Teak Bedroom Furniture

The bedroom is one of the place that people try to make into a sanctuary away from the noise and busy pace of their everyday world. One of the ways they accomplish this is by adding luxury to their bedrooms. Luxury can come in many forms and one of the more common is bedroom furniture. A nice bed and pair of dressers made from teak can really set off a bedroom decor. One of my favorites when it comes to beds is a combination of teak wood and wrought iron. I think this design style looks fantastic. In addition to beds and dressers, there are night stands or side tables, headboards, chairs, benches foot stools and even things like ceiling fans that you can get in teak wood as well. Teak is a good choice for sure. I even like my general bedroom wood materials to accessories like the wooden TV stand, and wooden wall hangings.

Teak Dining Sets

May 19, 2009

Teak is very popular for many types of furniture pieces, but one of the most popular is for dining tables and chairs. There are different kids of dining sets available from large tables for big families and groups to small intimate bistro sets for two people. One of the things often overlooked when people are buying dining tables is the placement of the table legs. Large wood tables are heavy and they require a lot of support so their legs are often big. Depending on your seating arrangement, these table legs can get in your way and become a real problem if you constantly bang you knees against them.

The one other thing to watch out for is the quality of construction at the joints. Every place where two wood pieces come together is a possible point of failure. If these joints are made very strong then you can expect your furniture to last a long time with normal use.

You can even get the dining furniture in many different shade of stain to match just about anything you want. I had originally installed unfinished hardwood floors in my dining room and I was able to finish them to match my existing dining room furniture.

Teak Patio Furniture

Teak Garden Bench

Teak Garden Bench

Teak is a great material for outdoor patio furniture. Factors that make it excellent for the outdoors are its durability and resistance to rot, mildew and insects. There are many types of patio furniture that are made from teak wood because teak is a very popular choice of materials. You can find items such as patio chairs, benches, tables, bars, bistro sets and just about everything in between.

Teak is a high end patio furniture material and with it comes a high end price. Aluminum, plastic resin, pine, cedar and man-made wicker are all less expensive. Wrought iron can be comparable in price but is often less expensive. One great looking patio furniture option is to get a glass table and chairs made out of teak. What a great combination of materials!

Teak Furniture

Teak Furniture Center – a place to discover and talk about teak furniture. I am very much inspired by great furniture designs, craftsmanship and materials. To me, teak furniture brings all of these elements together in sometimes brilliant ways.

Teak is a great wood for furniture due to its great beauty, its strength and durability, and its superior resistance to the elements (rot, mildew, insects, etc).

Design and craftsmanship are where the human elements come into play. Designs that mimic nature are the ones that I find most inspirational. Curves, balance and symmetry.

I have even seen Teak used to create solid wood garage doors!

With all of the positives, you can see why I am excited about Teak Furniture!
